Operation Specialist - Geoprobe

We seek an enthusiastic individual for an exciting opportunity with one of Florida’s most respected geologic consulting firms.  This fieldwork position requires experience in the operation of a direct-push (Geoprobe) drill rig and performing geophysical surveys to evaluate subsurface geology at various sites in Florida.  This is a full time, hourly position based in our Tampa office.

Subsurface Evaluations, Inc. is a geophysical and geologic consulting firm providing high-tech, specialty surveys and hydrogeological evaluations to leading geotechnical engineering companies, environmental consultants and government agencies in the southeastern United States of America.  Our mission is to provide expertise in evaluating sinkhole development potential, groundwater flow through caves and springs, and detection of buried man-made environmental liabilities.

Work Duties

Deliver excellent service to our clients.

Daily activities include: 

  • Operate and maintain Geoprobe 54LT rig to obtain soil and groundwater samples as well as peizocone penetration tests.  Some work sites may be environmentally contaminated and require the use of safety procedures and equipment, according to OSHA standards.
  • Assist geophysical surveys and other types of consulting projects.  Survey types include; Ground Penetrating Radar, Electrical Resistivity Imaging , Capacitively Coupled Resistivity, Seismic Surveys, and others.
  • Communicate with clients concerning survey results, project status, and alternative applications.
  • Assist the completion of in-office reports.
  • Use computer software on a daily basis to accomplish tasks, (i.e. Windows, Email, Microsoft Office, and other geophysical software).
  • Complete other tasks, as assigned.

Desired Qualifications

  • Demonstrated strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated strong teamwork skills.
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • 40 hour OSHA HAZWOPPER training a plus.  SEI will pay for all physicals and training.  

 

Required Qualifications

·        2+ years experience in drill rig operation.

·        High School Graduate or equivalent (Bachelor’s Degree a plus)

·        Must be willing to travel within Florida and occasionally spend a few nights out of town.

·        Must be physically fit and able to lift at least 50 lbs.

·        Must have a satisfactory driving record.

·        SEI is a drug-free workplace. Job offers are contingent upon passing a drug test.
